Welcome To Our Hygiene Department

Our Hygienists

Evita Sanchez

We are excited about Evita heading up our hygiene department.
"Hello, my name is Evita Sanchez. I am one of two full time hygienists at this dental practice. I am a graduate of the Kennedy King College & University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry. Also, I am a member of the American Dental Hygienist Assn. as well as the Hispanic Dental Assn. I pride myself on taking on-going education courses, such as courses in Periodontics.

Born and raised in Chicago, I have lived in Northwest Indiana for a few years where I worked for four oral surgeons as an assistant prior to becoming a dental hygienist. As a hygienist, I pride myself in being able to educate my patients about their oral health.

Dr. Tilden is an excellent dentist who provides the highest quality dental care to all his patients. I am proud to be a part of such a great dental practice that is committed to providing a comfortable dental experience for all of our patients. Thank you for visiting our web page. I hope to see you, your friends and family, providing you with all of the highest standards of dental care."

Nour Shehadeh

Our other hygienist is Nour Shehadeh. Most of you know Nour...she was our Ace Assistant and graduated from Dental Hygiene School.

She and Evita have proven to be one of the best hygiene teams available in Illinois. They continue with on-going education, as well. They will explain your dental care so that you understand your dental needs.

Dr. Tilden’s Dental Study Club

Dr. Tilden’s dental study club celebrated 30 years together. They have met six times a year for all these years bringing in the best dental clinicians to speak to their group in order to keep abreast of new techniques and trends in dentistry.

Usually, two of the meetings are all day, hands-on seminars where they actually work on tooth models and practice some new technique with new materials. This constant continuing education keeps your doctor sharp and up to the minute. In fact, a recent topic at the last seminar was HPV (human cervical cancer virus) A New Concern for Dentistry.

Oral Cancer Detection

There are over 40,000 oral cancer cases a year; and the fastest growing oral cancer population is the 18-40 year olds with no history of smoking, alcohol or chewing tobacco. This HPV virus is being found in 25% of the oral cancers & 35% of the throat cancers and seems to be related to the number of lifetime oral sex partners one has. We will be offering a new 3--minute simple & painless oral cancer screening test that will detect ALL types of oral cancers at the earliest stage.

Obviously, early detection results in less invasive treatment later. You will be hearing about this test from the hygienist; and we hope you will take advantage of it. Our entire staff has taken the test; and we were all negative.

State of the Art Technology

This practice is fully equipped with the latest state of the art technology. With the use of digital radiographs, the intra-oral camera and Zoom Whitening System (just to name a few), we are able to treat all of your dental/cosmetic needs.

COME VISIT AND RECEIVE YOUR COMPLIMENTARY TOOTHBRUSH, FLOSS, BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING TODAY. YOU WILL LOVE OUR STAFF OF FINE PROFESSIONALS.

Regular cleanings

Once tartar has formed, only your dentist or hygienist can remove it with a professional cleaning. Dental professionals also use sealants to help protect molars from decay.

Cleanings

Once tartar has formed, only your dentist or hygienist can remove it. The process of removing tartar is called a prophylaxis ("prophy" for short).

During a prophy, the dentist or hygienist uses a special instrument to clean the tooth above and below the gum line.

As with many health concerns, prevention is the key. Proper oral care at home can greatly reduce tartar build-up and also help make the next prophy a little easier.

Whiter, brighter smiles

There are several techniques dental professionals use to create a whiter, brighter smile, including bleaching, bonding and veneers.

Bleaching

Discolored or stained teeth before

After bleaching

The bleaching solution is applied, activated with heat and/or light, and then rinsed off. This procedure may need to be repeated.
An alternative: wearing a prescribed bleaching tray at home under a dentist's supervision
